Sony Play Station a 32-bit video game console was produced by Sony Computer Entertainment in December 1994 marking a revolution in the field of video games. It was the first of the series of console and hand-held game devices. The PlayStation didn’t miss the chance to generate interest in the market with a lot of advertisement campaigns. The PlayStation logo was designed by Manabu Sakamoto, who also designed the logo for Sony's VAIO computer products. The PlayStation is considered as one of the longest production runs in the video game industry.

This electronic game console had to undergo a variety of variants including the gradual reduction in the number of external connectors on the unit. SCPH-900x series is the last revision to the original PlayStation with the same hardware

Early gamers used to experience skipping of full-motion video or dreaded physical "ticking" noises from the PlayStations. The user found it difficult to officially make actual game discs as the amount of space was small. Sony launched the smallest version of its Play Station, PS one in 2000, which was about one-third smaller than the original PlayStation. Later it also released a small LCD screen and an adaptor that can be used in cars.
